Educational Therapy ยท Structured Literacy

Where reading starts to click.

One-on-one support for elementary-age readers, drawing on a combination of evidence-based programs matched to how your child's reading brain works.

About

Trained in how reading actually works.

Kailey Webber, MA, ET/P runs Ed Therapy for You, working directly with elementary-age students on reading and reading-related skills. Sessions draw on a combination of evidence-based programs, matched to each student rather than applied as a one-size-fits-all curriculum.

The goal isn't just decoding on a page. It's building the underlying skills — phonological awareness, orthographic mapping, visual and auditory processing, and fluency — so reading stops being a daily struggle.

Evidence-Based Programs

Wilson Reading System, Orton-Gillingham, Seeing Stars, Visualizing and Verbalizing, Read Naturally, and PACE — drawn on individually or in combination, based on what each student needs.

Educational Therapy

A process built around your child, not a fixed script.

Educational therapy isn't a single program applied the same way to every student. It's an ongoing process that starts with real data and keeps adjusting as your child grows.

1

Assessment

I start by getting a clear, detailed picture of how your child reads, writes, and processes — identifying exactly where the breakdown is happening, not just that one exists.

2

Individualized Goals

From there, I build goals specific to your child — targeting the actual skills that need to develop, using the program or combination of programs that fits best.

3

Remediation

This is where the direct instruction happens — structured, individualized sessions that put the chosen programs into practice, using multisensory techniques and incorporating movement to target the specific skills each goal is built around.

4

Collaboration

I stay in communication with parents, teachers, and allied professionals like SLPs, OTs, and psychologists, so support stays consistent across school, home, and any other services your child receives.

5

Progress Monitoring

Progress gets tracked regularly, not assumed. As your child grows, goals and methods are adjusted to match — so the work never outpaces or lags behind where they actually are.

The Approach

Reading is built in layers. We work through them in order.

No single program covers everything a struggling reader needs. Sessions combine structured literacy instruction with targeted work on the visual, auditory, and processing skills that reading depends on.

S

Sound Awareness

Hearing, isolating, and manipulating the sounds inside words — the foundation everything else is built on.

D

Decoding & Encoding

Connecting sounds to letters in both directions — reading words and spelling them with the same rules.

M

Orthographic Mapping

Moving words from "sounded out" to instantly recognized, so reading stops being effortful.

F

Fluency & Confidence

Building reading rate and expression, plus the confidence that comes from real progress.

C

Comprehension

Making sure decoding turns into real understanding — following ideas, making connections, and remembering what was read.

P

Processing Skills

Strengthening the visual and auditory processing that reading relies on.

Who This Helps

If reading feels harder than it should, you're in the right place.

Educational therapy is a good fit for elementary-age students who show signs like:

  • 1Shows a strong resistance to reading or writing
  • 2Reading that's slow, choppy, or exhausting even when comprehension is strong
  • 3Difficulty breaking a word apart into its sounds or blending sounds back together into a word
  • 4Spelling that doesn't match how well a child can otherwise express ideas
  • 5Progress that's stalled despite tutoring or extra practice at home
  • 6A need for a slower, more explicit, multisensory pace than a classroom can offer
A Bit About Me

Kailey Webber, MA, ET/P

I grew up in Malibu, California, and graduated summa cum laude from the University of San Francisco with a degree in Kinesiology and Neuroscience. That's where a passion for the brain, and for how we learn and remember, really took hold.

From there I worked with students in both classroom and one-on-one settings before completing my master's degree in Educational Therapy at California State University, Northridge. I've now spent a decade working with students — and I still find the work as engaging as the day I started.

Outside of sessions, I'm usually keeping up with my energetic and lovable boxer, Olive, and spending time with my young daughter, Presley. When I get a spare moment, you'll probably find me cooking something new in the kitchen or trying out whatever the latest workout craze happens to be.
